Shoolini fair begins

Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment DR Shandil today inaugurated a three-day state-level historic Shoolini fair signifying the sojourn of Goddess Shoolini, the ruling deity of the area, to her elder sister Goddess Durga’s temple at Ganj Bazaar.

Hundreds of people participated in the celebrations where the procession of Goddess Shoolini was taken through the main streets of the town. Shandil after paying obeisance at the temple, participated in the Shobha Yatra.

Community langars were also organised at various places in the town. Various cultural programmes and games will be held to mark the occasion. Though the fair is traditionally inaugurated by the Chief Minister every year, his visit was cancelled last evening.
