Woman’s body found hanging in Kathua

KATHUA: A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her home in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district on Sunday.

A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her home in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district on Sunday.

The police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and started investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Ritika (32), a physical education lecturer, who was posted at Higher Secondary School, Chakra, Hiranagar.

After getting information about her death, the woman’s parents along with some villagers reached Hiranagar and held a protest, alleging that their daughter was murdered. They demanded that her husband be arrested.

Meanwhile, the tehsildar and police officials pacified the woman’s protesting parents and villagers. They were assured that the guilty would be booked as per law.
