Manpreet Singh (43), living in the Roop Nagar mohalla on the Jalandhar road, allegedly committed suicide today by hanging himself from the ceiling of a room in his house.

According to the police, he could have taken the extreme step due to the losses suffered by him in business as stated by his wife. He left behind a suicide note in which he has reportedly not blamed anyone for his action.

The matter came to light when his wife Monica came back from the school at about 4 in the evening and found him hanging from a hook on the ceiling of his room.

Listening to her cries, people gathered there and took the man to the Civil Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The suicide note was found from a pocket of the deceased.

Manpreet was married in September 2006 to Monika of Yamuna Nagar. The couple was living in a rented room in Roopnagar and had no children.
