Around five armed men shot at a youth near the BDPO office in Old Talwara over old rivalry. The injured has been identified as Navjot Singh, alias Rocky, a resident of Ghoghara village. He was admitted to BBMB Hospital for treatment, from where doctors referred him to a Jalandhar hospital due to his serious condition. Doctors said Navjot had four bullets in his body.

However, Navjot said the attack on him had been made due to old enmity. He said there were four or five persons who attacked him when he was alone in his office. Of the attackers, he has identified Happy, Kali and a boy.

He said even after a fatal attack on Janmashtami, the police did not bother to take any action against the suspects even after a case was lodged against them. On September 2, Navjot had lodged a complaint with the Talwara police station. He had complained that during the Janmashtami fair, on September 1, a white car stopped near him which was driven by Harjinder Singh Happy. Along with him, Surjeet, alias Kali, a resident of Bishanpur, had attacked him with a pistol. However, he had escaped the attack.

Even after four months have been passed since the incident occurred, the police did not dare to catch the suspects.

Police Inspector Vikramjit Singh, in-charge of the Talwara police station, said the suspects would be booked on the statement of the victim and the police would arrest them soon.
