Afghan officials worried

Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat has been in news for quite a few reasons lately. While the posters and the trailer have left the audiences intrigued, it has also made heads turn. The movie stars Arjun Kapoor as Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Kriti Sanon as Parvati and Sanjay Dutt as Afghan emperor Ahmad Shah Abdali.

While the characters have managed to receive a thumbs up from the audience, it is Sanjay Dutt’s look that has garnered maximum attention. However, Dutt’s portrayal of Abdali is also catching the attention of Afghanistan officials. Reportedly, Afghanistan embassy fears that Panipat might misinterpret Abdali’s character. Thus, they have written to the Ministry of External Affairs and requested a meeting with Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar. In the letter, the officials also mentioned that any distorted depiction of Ahmad Shah Abdali might hurt the emotions of Afghans, and in turn affect the harmony between India and Afghanistan.
