‘Schools on sites allotted by GLADA violating norms’

Congress legislator Sanjeev Talwar alleged that educational institutions set up on sites allotted by the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) in the city were violating the terms and conditions of the allotment of land by ignoring the claims of students living close to the institutions and admitting students from other far off localities. 

In separate communications to the Chief Administrator, GLADA, and the Deputy Commissioner, the legislator representing Ludhiana East Assembly segment pointed out that GLADA allotted various sites to educational institutions in localities falling under Ludhiana East segment, where private schools were being run. 

“These schools are not abiding by the terms and conditions for the allotment of institutional sites, which lay down that students belonging to the areas located around these institutions be given admission on a priority. It is a common practice to admit students from other far off localities, while those living in the vicinity of these schools are not entertained,” said Talwar.

He urged GLADA authorities and the district administration to prevail upon the managements of such private schools to implement the terms and conditions of allotment of institutional sites in letter and spirit, or else strict action, as per rules, be taken against the erring school managements.
