12-year-old found hanging at home, kin suspect murder

LUDHIANA: A 12-year-old boy was found hanging at his house on Tibba Road on Wednesday evening.

A 12-year-old boy was found hanging at his house on Tibba Road on Wednesday evening. Suspecting murder, the kin lodged a complaint with the police and sought thorough investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Shivam. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan with the help of a plastic rope. The family suspect that he was first murdered and then to create a suicide scene, he was hung to the girder with a rope.

Deceased’s father Ram Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, who is a driver by profession, said his son studies in Class V. He was in the house as it was a holiday, while his elder brother was playing outside. “On Wednesday, I went to buy medicines with my wife and Shivam was alone at home. When my elder son went inside, he was shocked to see Shivam’s hanging body. We immediately reached home and informed the police. He cannot commit suicide and must have been killed by someone and was later hanged to give it an impression of suicide. My son was not under any depression and he was enjoying his life. How can my son, who is just 12-year-old commit suicide?” he asked.

“I have an old enmity with someone, but I am not revealing the same to the police. If I will reveal anything, I may also be killed,” he said.

IO ASI Gurmeet Singh said the postmortem would clear the exact cause of death. It seems it was a suicide. So far, deceased’s father has also not named any suspicious person who could kill the boy, he said.
