Gurdwara panel chief’s aides held for clash

LUDHIANA: The Dugri police have nabbed two persons for a clash reported outside Gurdwara Sukhmani Sahib in Phase II, Dugri, about two days ago.

The Dugri police have nabbed two persons for a clash reported outside Gurdwara Sukhmani Sahib in Phase II, Dugri, about two days ago. The suspects have been identified as Gurpreet and Simar, both aides of gurdwara committee president Arvinder Singh.

The incident occurred during the night of December 12 while a religious programme was going on at the gurdwara. Two groups, one led by present president Arvinder Singh and another by former president Jagdev Singh clashed outside the gurdwara. Jagdev suffered severe injuries and he was admitted to the CMCH. His condition is stated to be normal.

The investigating officer, ASI Jagtar Singh, said a cross-case under Section 295-A, 323 and 341 of the IPC was registered against both groups and raids were on to nab the suspects. Jagdev would be arrested once he is discharge from the hospital, he said.
