Ludhiana: A man has been arrested allegedly with 25-gram heroin near the local bus stand. The suspect has been identified as Vijay Kumar of Mohalla Sardar Nagar in Moga. The police claimed that they arrested Vijay at a check post at Bus Stand Chowk. He told the police that he was a property dealer. As he had almost no business for the past eight months, he started peddling heroin. He purchased the drug from an African national and sold it to his customers in Moga district. A case under sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Division Number 5 police station. TNS

Accident victim succumbs to injuries

Ludhiana: A pedestrian lost his life after he was hit by ‘speeding’ SUV. He was admitted to the CMCH after the accident on April 19. The deceased has been identified as Avtar Singh of Jandiali village. In a complaint, Jaspreet Singh, son of Avtar Singh, alleged that a speeding vehicle hit his father near Mohini Palace. After the accident, the driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. A case under Section 279 and 304 A has been registered against an unidentified driver at the Division Number 7 police station. The police has recovered the vehicle. TNS
