Akash test-fired for 3rd day

BALASORE: For the third day on Wednesday, India's indigenously developed surface-to-air Akash missile was successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur. The missile targeted UAV, “Banshee”.  It has  a strike range of 25 km and can carry 60 kg warhead. PTI

Earthquake jolts North-East

10 die after eating mushrooms

Ten persons died in Mamit district of Mizoram and East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya due to poisoning after consuming wild mushrooms. In Mamit, five members of a family except for a three-year-old girl died. In Shillong, five members of another family from Mawsawa village died. PTI

61 Naxals surrender

Sixtyone Naxals, including seven women, surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district citing disappointment with the ideology of the CPM. The rebels turned themselves in at the Jagdalpur district headquarters. Of them, Phulo Madkami, carried a reward of Rs 3 lakh. PTI

3 injured in leopard attack

Three labourers working in a building in Fazalpur area were injured in a leopard attack, which created panic in the city prompting authorities to shut all schools on Wednesday. They have been admitted to a hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger. PTI
