Senior SAD leader and former Cabinet Minister Capt Balbir Baath today accused Sri Hargobindpur MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Des Raj Dhugga of spreading terror in the town. He alleged Dhugga was shielding Sri Hargobinpur Station House Officer (SHO) Kamalpreet Singh, who was terrorising town residents.

Baath along with hundreds of supporters held a dharna outside the office of Batala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Inderbir Singh. He alleged the SSP had failed to address the grievances of Sri Hargobindpur residents.

The SSP refuted the allegations that he could not be contacted. “I am a public servant and I am bound to take the calls of all residents. Baath never rang me up and he is levelling false allegations against me,” he said.

Baath further said, “The law and order situation in Sri Hargobindpur is deteriorating with each passing day. The SHO with the support of Dhugga has terrorised the residents.”

He demanded that a probe be conducted into the matter. “Before coming here, I tried to meet the SSP, but he denied me an audience. I will ask senior police officers to ask the SSP as to why he was shielding the SHO,” he added. Dhugga and the SHO could not be contacted.
