Police remand for Congress leader

MUKTSAR: A local court today sent Congress councillor Rakesh Chaudhary to one-day police remand.

A local court today sent Congress councillor Rakesh Chaudhary to one-day police remand. Chauhdary was booked for allegedly hatching a plan to assault a woman. He was arrested last evening. His other family members, including three brothers, have been booked in an attempt to murder case.

A video had gone viral in which Chaudhary’s brothers were seen thrashing a woman outside her residence for not repaying some loan amount. At present, seven out of 10 accused have been arrested.

Meanwhile, PPCC general secretary Jagjit Singh Honey Fattanwala today met the victim’s family at the civil hospital, where Meena is recuperating from her injuries.
