Defending Champions Mohun Bagan began their title defence with a dominating 4-0 win over DSK Shivajians in the 38th Hero Fed Cup at the Barabati Stadium.

Defending Champions Mohun Bagan began their title defence with a dominating 4-0 win over DSK Shivajians in the 38th Hero Fed Cup at the Barabati Stadium. A Balwant Singh brace (24th min, 71st) and a goal by Darryl Duffy header (65th) and Jeje (90+ 2nd) proved enough for Sanjoy Sen’s men to start their campaign with a win. Bengaluru FC proved too good for Shillong Lajong and took off to a flying start after Alberto Roca’s men defeated Lajong 3-2 in a tight encounter.

Super Boxing League to feature eight teams 

In the face of opposition from Boxing Federation of India, the promoters of the Super Boxing League (SBL) announced that SBL’s first season would be held from July 7 to August 12 in Delhi while unveiling the eight teams and their owners. SBL, whose first season is to be held at the Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, has British boxer Amir Khan as its co-promoter. Khan was originally scheduled to attend the media conference here to unveil the details of the league but stayed back in Dubai after suffering a hand injury in training and is now expected to arrive here tomorrow.

Jamaica’s anti-doping authority has withdrawn its appeal over the one-year ban received by West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell for breaches of the whereabouts rule.
