UT SSP Nilambari Jagdale who reached the crime spot said the accused used both sharp and blunt weapons to murder the sisters.
"Names of few suspects have cropped up during the investigation following which teams have been sent to their addresses to establish if they have any involvement in the crime,” police added.
According to police, when none of the victims picked calls from family members in the morning, they asked an acquaintance in Chandigarh to enquire about the sisters. It was then that the double murder came to light.
A forensic team also visited the crime spot. Police believe that the victims were murdered during wee hours of Thursday.
Police have collected the footage from CCTV cameras installed outside houses. “We are scrutinising the footage,” a police official said.
Meanwhile, a case of murder has been registered at Sector 17 police station.
