Jahangiripuri: Sewer claims life

Today at around 7.30 am, information was received in Jahangirpuri from Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh that a person, Dooman Ray (32) was brought dead from Delhi Jal Board Pump House, G Block, Jahangirpuri, said additional DCP A K Lal.

He was working in sewerage there with three other workers and died due to drowning. Delhi Jal Board has given contract to K.K Spun Indian Ltd for repair and rehabilitation of sewerage in Jahangirpuri, the DCP said.

Today at about 5.30 am, the deceased went down in sewerage hole to open valve and died. An FIR has been registered on the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act and investigation is taken up, DCP Lal added.
