Gurugram, January 21

The Gurugram and Ghaziabad traffic police have prohibited the entry of heavy vehicles to Delhi from their respective borders. The traffic units of both the NCR districts have asked commuters to take Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway.

‘Delhi police in loop’

The decision has been taken in coordination with the Delhi Police. The heavy vehicles planning to enter Delhi will not be allowed in Gurugram because these usually halt at borders and lead to traffic and security concerns. Vehicles passing through these areas will be diverted to the KMP expressway. Gurugram traffic police

The closure will be imposed at three border points in Gurugram district and 12 in Ghaziabad for the full-dress rehearsal of Republic Day Parade.

In Gurugram, the restrictions will be in effect from 10 pm on January 22 to 1.30 pm on January 23 and 10 pm on January 25 to 1.30 pm on January 26. Commercial vehicles can use the Eastern Peripheral expressway or the KMP expressway.

“The decision has been taken in coordination with the Delhi Police. The heavy vehicles planning to enter Delhi will not be allowed here as well because they usually halt at borders and create traffic issues and security concerns. Vehicles passing-by from these areas will be diverted to the KMP expressway,” said the Gurugram traffic police.

“No commercial vehicles such as trucks will be allowed to enter Delhi on the prohibited days. These vehicles can move to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) to reach their destination, however, entry of commercial vehicles, light/ medium/ heavy, will not be allowed to enter Delhi,” said the Ghaziabad traffic police.
