Hisar, January 22

A cold and dry spell of weather continues in the region. However, there was some respite from the cold due to sunshine during the day today.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted dense or very dense fog with cold conditions for tomorrow in the state. It has issued an ‘orange alert’ for all the districts, except Faridabad and Panipat, for the next two days.

Major change ruled out

Agricultural Meteorological Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University has predicted dry weather for the next couple of days and ruled out a major change in the weather conditions.

The Agricultural Meteorological Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) has predicted dry weather over the next couple of days and ruled out a major change in the weather conditions. Cold conditions will continue due to the northern and northwestern cold winds. The region will witness foggy mornings, the advisory from the HAU stated.

Meanwhile, sunshine gave some respite to residents from the extreme cold. Farmers, however, said crops needed light rainfall at this time of the year. “Though the experts are advising farmers to resort to mild irrigation in the absence of rain, it will increase the input costs,” said Subhash, a farmer in Raipur village of the district.

As per IMD data, there has been no rainfall since January 1.

“Farmers are advised to give light and frequent irrigation to protect crops from cold conditions,” said the State Agro Meteorological Centre, Chandigarh.

Meanwhile, Hisar recorded a maximum of 14.5°C today, which is about 5.5°C below normal. In Ambala, the maximum temperature was recorded at 10.6°C while in Karnal, it was registered at 13.7°C.

The maximum temperature in Bhiwani was 14.7°C, 15.8°C in Sirsa, 12.7°C in Faridabad, 11.9°C in Kurukshetra and 12.9°C in Fatehabad district.

In Narnaul, the maximum temperature was recorded at 18°C. At 2.9°C, Mahendragarh recorded the minimum temperature in the state.
