The CPM on Friday nominated women rights activist, international volleyball player and Bhim awardee Jagmati Sangwan as its candidate for the post of Rohtak Mayor.

CPM district secretary Vinod Deswal appealed to all Left, democratic and progressive forces to support her. Sangwan said her party was in favour of decentralisation and accountability so that the MC served the interests of the common man, who had remained deprived of basic amenities. Sangwan had represented the country in volleyball and was honoured with Bhim award by the state government. — TNS
