Chandigarh, November 2

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij, while reacting to the results of the Ellenabad bypoll, today said that of course, “Abhay Singh Chautala has won the bypoll, but lost on moral grounds.”

Vij was interacting with mediapersons today.

He said that the issue for which he (Abhay Chautala) had resigned and contested again had merit, his votes would have increased and his margin should have increased, but his margin was lesser than earlier.

“This proves that people have completely rejected his agenda,” he said.

Similarly, he took a dig at the Congress and said, “The Congress, which is doing the work of adding fuel to fire in the country, has also been shown its place in Haryana politics by the people of Ellenabad.”

On the BJP’s performance, he said, “It was not a casual election as it was being contested again by resigning from the seat and fighting on some issue. However, it is a big deal for a BJP candidate to get a huge number of votes.” To a question regarding the results of byelections in HP and Bengal, he said, “We will analyse these results.”
