Ambala, August 6
“I will ask the Director General of Police (DGP) to see the Janta Darbar,” said Home and Health Minister Anil Vij while holding his Janta Darbar at the PWD Rest House in Ambala Cantonment today.
Hundreds of complainants from Rohtak, Karnal, Panipat, Sonepat, Kurukshetra, Bhiwani, Mahendergarh, Faridabad, Yamunanagar, Panchkula and other districts had reached the rest house with their complaints related to the police, revenue, health and other departments.
Following repeated complaints against the Police Department regarding inaction in assault, murder, rape, dowry deaths, attempt to murder, land grabbing, extortion and accident cases, the minister looked miffed and remarked that he would ask the DGP to see the Janta Darbar.
During the darbar, the minister ordered suspension of a head constable posted in Rohtak after an Army person had accused the policeman of demanding Rs 35,000 bribe from him in connection with an assault case.
In another case, the minister directed Kurukshetra SP to take action in the matter brought forward by a father that his daughter had suffered serious injuries after she came under the rear wheel of a private school bus.
The complainant claimed that a case was registered, but no action had been taken.
The minister also directed the Bhiwani SP to take immediate action after a complainant alleged that his home was set on fire, but no action was taken against the accused.
Talking to mediapersons, the minister said: “People reach here with high hopes and we are here to resolve their grievances. I also take the action taken report. I have talked to the officials and directed them to take immediate action. Security and justice to the families of Army men are our top-most priority.”
Taking a dig at the Congress for its protests, the minister said: “Congress leaders, who used to wear white clothes, are now wearing black to hide their wrong deeds. They are protesting just to create pressure on the ED.”
