Yamunanagar, January 17

A woman was allegedly axed to death by her brother-in-law in Jai Singh ka Majra village in Yamunanagar district on Thursday over a property dispute.

The deceased has been identified as Anita Devi (38). After committing the crime, accused Sandeep Kumar managed to flee from the spot.

Ramesh Kumar, SHO, Radaur police station, said on the complaint of Gulshan Kumar, Anita’s husband, a case had been registered against Sandeep Kumar.

The SHO said there had been a dispute between Gulshan Kumar and his younger brother Sandeep Kumar over a piece of land and a house since their father died about two years ago. Sandeep had a verbal argument with his sister-in-law (Anita) over the said issue on Thursday afternoon, which soon turned violent.

Sandeep picked up an axe lying nearby and hit Anita’s head with it. She was rushed to the community health centre, Saraswati Nagar, where she succumbed to her injuries, he added.— TNS
