Gurmeet Kaur, Additional District and Sessions Judge-Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court, Solan, today sentenced an Uttar Pradesh resident Shailender Sharma to 15 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for kidnapping and raping a 10-year old minor girl.

A penalty of Rs 16,000 has also been imposed on the accused for various offences comprising wrongful confinement, kidnapping and rape.

Deputy District Attorney Solan PS Negi, informed that the accused Shailender Sharma had kidnapped the victim on February 21, 2019. She was confined to a rented accommodation and repeatedly raped. As many as 21 witnesses were examined by the prosecution to establish the crime.
