Firing up the BJP cadres on Saturday, ahead of 18th Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the 370 seat target he had set for the party was not a mere statistic but the BJP’s tribute to Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
The prime minister was addressing the BJP’s office-bearers meeting ahead of the party’s National Council Meeting here.
Linking 370 seats to the Abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and to the fulfilment of Mookerjee’s dream of “one nation one Constitution”, Modi laid down a 100-day plan for party workers asking them to work on each of the 10,46,000 booths and try getting 370 votes more on each booth.
Modi said starting February 25 the BJP workers should contest a labarthi campaign across India for the next hundred days.
The prime minister also told the cadres that though the opposition would increasingly indulge in the shrill game of blame game the BJP must focus its campaign on “development, welfare of the poor and advancement or four castes of poor, youth, farmers and women through welfare programmes.”
The political resolution to be opened for debate today will be titled “Viksit Bharat, Modi Guarantee: Ek baar phir bhajpa Sarkar.” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will move the political resolution.
Speaking at the same meeting, BJP chief JP Nadda said the party workers had reached 7.5 lakh villages and out of ten lakh booths the party has reached 8.5 lakh.
Nadda also said that the party’s weak Lok Sabha residence plan wherein top ministers visited 161 weak segments over the last one and a half year.
“We are now in a position to win most of the 161 weak Lok Sabha seats which we lost last time,” Nadda told workers.
BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde commenting on the office-bearers meeting said the PM also told the cadres that in each seat which BJP contests in the upcoming election, lotus will be the candidate.
“BJP chief also said that the party would continue its campaign on the line that PM Modi is the only leader in India’s history who has given a corruption free and development laced government for 23 years that he has held the constitutional post first as Gujarat CM and now as PM,” Tawde said.
