Finally there!

Carving a niche in Bollywood is the dream of every actor. But the route to success is not a bed of roses, and who knows it better than a small-town artiste. For Lakha Lakwinder Singh, who hails from Patiala’s Dabhi Gujran village, the journey was not easy after arriving in Mumbai in 2007. But he never deviated from his path and continued to focus on his goal.

Now after doing several Bollywood and Punjabi movies, Lakha is playing the role of a Sikh officer in a Bollywood movie, Rashtriya Rifles, which is based on surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army after a militant attack in Uri in 2016. Besides Lakha, Deepraj Rana, Jimmy Sharma and Mir Sarwar are in the lead. The movie, directed by Suzad Iqbal Khan, is expected to hit the theatres in March.

Talking about the movie, Lakha said, “It is an honour for me to play the role of an Army man. I used to work out with Suzad Iqbal Khan in a gym and we had become good friends. One day, he called me up and shared the story of the movie. He later came to my place and narrated my role and the story. I grabbed the opportunity. At present, the post-production work is going on.”

Lakha is also playing the lead role in the upcoming Punjabi movie, Dhol Ratti, alongside Punjabi actors Malkeet Rauni and Harinder Bhullar. He has also been part of Mitti Na Phrol Jogeya as one of the leads.

“I was offered many projects during these 10 years in Mumbai. But I never took any decision in a hurry. The most important thing for me is to enjoy my work. This is the only reason that I have done selected movies,” added Lakha, who has also shared the screen with Vir Das and Soha Ali Khan in October 31.

In the Punjabi movie, 25 Kille, he worked with Punjabi actor Gaggu Gill. He will be seen with Jimmy Shergill and Bipasa Basu in The Black Day. The movie will be directed by Manjit Saran.
