Sidhant Gupta

Are you are very choosy about work?

Yes I am, because I value my work a lot. Before Covid struck us, I wanted to take a break. I started asking myself questions like why I wanted to work and what kind of work should I do. That is when I started getting answers.

How tough is it for you to say no to work?

Television has given me a lot of fame. But it was an important call for me to stay away because as an actor you need to continue being creative to imagine and perform. And, honestly, on television sometimes you get the script the same morning of the shoot, which leaves you with no time.

What have you done during your sabbatical?

First, I went to London and then to New York. I have attended a few acting workshops and discovered there is a magic in acting!

What is so special about Operation Romeo?

It’s an intense film that started in a different way and then went into a different zone. It has a mix of love and pain. Out of 45 days, 30 days I had to emote for the intense scenes. I used to lock myself in a room to be in a different zone. This film will emphasise on the bad effects of moral policing, which people should know about.

Your social media presence is not much. It is quite rare for a young and popular actor like you, why?

Yes, there was a time when I used to think what is the use of a platform like this? But then there are my fans who have been putting so much effort to create the fan page and their life revolves around their icons. I genuinely want to thank them for this. Social media can be distracting and whenever I work, I delete those apps from my phone.

You are not very open when it comes to your personal life. Are you a shy person?

Actor’s life anyway is an open book, but I am a shy person by nature. An actor can always try to protect his personal life and respect those who are close to him.

How much do you miss Jammu?

I do visit my hometown because that’s the place I get peace. All my childhood friends are there and my family too.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

My dad, who has just retired from his job, told me after so many years he had seen a very good trailer and is looking forward to seeing me in the film.
