6,295 students appear for talent search exam

The Punjab State Talent Search Examination was held here today. The exam is conducted every year by the State Council of Education Research and Training. It is conducted for the students of Classes VIII and X studying in government schools, who after clearing the exam will get Rs 200 as scholarship, every month.

Students to get Rs 200 every month 

  • Twenty four exam centres were set up at tehsil level for Classes VIII and X. Earlier, the date for PSTSE was January 19, but since it was getting clashed with the teacher eligibility test, it was postponed to February 16. Those clearing the exam will get Rs 200 as scholarship, every month.

This year, 7,507 government school students belonging to Ludhiana district for Classes VIII and X registered themselves for the test while 64,000 have registered themselves across the state.

Minimum pass marks for general category are 40 per cent, while for the reserved category it is 32 per cent.

The mode of language for the exam is either English or Punjabi. The exam duration was of three hours and maximum marks were 180. There were two sections which included Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), both for 90 marks.

Subjects included in SAT were Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social Studies and Maths. Subjects in MAT included were verbal and non-verbal, Maths and Social Science. The exam was held from 10 am to 1 pm. A candidate coming out of the examination Center said that the exam appeared easy to him and he is sure to crack it.

Students were being motivated by the teachers and officials for the past couple of months which led to an increase in the registration of students for the test. As compared to the last year, nearly 40 percent increase was witnessed in registration this year.
