Begowal villagers’ intent to fight drug menace has been appreciated by the police.

Doraha SHO Manpreet Singh Deol while interacting with the villagers said, “The manner in which the residents have formed a brigade and deputed secret agents to provide information about drug peddlers is really appreciable. Begowal village is the first of its kind to initiate such a move. Every sort of assistance will be provided to the residents by the police.”

He said, “The task can be accomplished if general public helps in unmasking anti-social elements. I believe that the involvement of residents can bring a positive change. Through various community oriented programmes, a healthy rapport can be maintained with people. ”

The SHO said, “The police have nabbed a number of people involved in this trade. However, next step is to trace every person and bring them to book.”

He appealed the villagers to spread message in other villages as well. “If youths are aware, no one can muster courage to sell them this deadly poison. It is for the youngsters to rise up to the occasion and resist any sort of temptation,” he said.

Members of the flying squad shared their commitment to fight drug nuisance.
