The Court of Additional Sessions Judge K K Jain has convicted Rajan (26), a resident of ward 12, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony, Khanna, on the charges of raping a girl, a student of Class IX, who was his sister’s friend.
He was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 20 years. A fine of Rs 1,02,000 was also imposed on the convict. The court also made it clear that out of the recovered fine amount, Rs 1 lakh would be paid to the victim as compensation.
Special public prosecutor Monika Gupta apprised that a case against the accused was registered on September 1, 2018, at the City 2 police station, Khanna, following the statement of the victim.
The complainant had told the police that the accused came to their house on August 17, 2018. He took her on his motorcycle on the pretext that his sister was calling her due to her birthday. Then he took her to a room in his colony and administered some intoxicating substance in a cold drink. Thereafter, he raped her and threatened to not to disclose the same to anyone. However, after some days, she told the incident to her family and the matter was reported to the police, who booked the accused.
In another case, the Court of Additional Sessions Judge Ashish Abrol has sentenced Rajvir Singh (21) of Sudhar, Ludhiana district to 20 years in jail on the charges of raping a Class IX girl. A fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed on him.
A case against him was registered at City Jagraon police station on November 14, 2017, following the statement of the father of victim girl. Later, the police recovered the girl and the medical record confirmed rape. The girl had told the police that a day before, when she alighted from a auto-rickshaw near her school, Rajvir forcibly took her away in a car and raped her.
