Ludhiana: The anti-smuggling cell has nabbed a bootlegger and recovered 142 bottles of illegal liquor from him. The suspect has been identified as Raj Kumar Raju of Kot Mangal Singh. His aide Sahil of Janta Nagar managed to give a slip to the police The cell in-charge, Yashpal Sharma, said acting on a secret information, a raid was conducted at the house of Raj Kumar from where liquor was recovered. In another case, the anti-smuggling cell nabbed an employee of a liquor shop owned by Ganganagar group contractors identified as Amit Bansal and Penta Mittal. The suspect opened liquor shop during odd hours, which was against the lockdown guidelines. Contractors are yet to be arrested by the police. TNS

Peddler held with 7-kg ganja

Ludhiana: The Model Town police have nabbed a smuggler and recovered 7 kg of ganja from his possession. The suspect has been identified as Ram Das of Foji Mohalla. Investigation officer ASI Sudarshan said during routine patrolling, a naka was laid in Model Town. On suspicion, a pedestrian was stopped for checking, which led to the recovery of drugs. Peddler was on the way to supply contraband to his clients. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the suspect. TNS
