Man kills wife over minor argument, held

Ludhiana, January 16

A man killed his wife over a minor argument at their residence in Focal Point last night.

After registering a murder case against the man, Suraj Bahadur, the Focal Point police arrested him today.

Investigating officer ASI Surjit Kumar, in-charge of the Jiwan Nagar police post, said brother of deceased woman Bishnu Chetri (42) had gone to meet his sister on Saturday. He was shocked to see that his sister was lying dead on a bed and blood was oozing out of her mouth. The husband of the deceased was also sitting besides her. When he asked the reason of his sister’s death, Suraj Bahadur admitted to the crime.

Before Bishnu Chetri’s brother could inform the police, Suraj Bahadur fled.

ASI Surjit said during preliminary questioning, Suraj Bahadur confessed that on Saturday night he had an argument with his wife over some minor issue, and in no time arguments took ghastly shape and he strangled his wife to death.

After strangling her, Suraj Bahadur also badly punched the face of his wife.

Suraj was today arrested from Focal Point. —
