The Sarabha Nagar police today claimed to have cracked the restaurant theft case by nabbing five persons. A manager and a waiter of the restaurant are among the suspects arrested by the police.
Gang used to strike at night
After registering a case, the police started a probe and identified the suspects. He said the five suspects had formed a gang of thieves and they used to commit thefts in night hours while in the morning, the gang members would join their workplaces.
They have been identified as Vivek Bhandari, manager, of Model Town, Prashtham, waiter, and Abhishek of Jawaddi Kalan, Rahul of Model Town and Shiva Nand of Daad village. One of the suspects, Kalu, is at large in the case.
ADCP-3 Ramandeep Singh Bhullar, ACP Jatin Bansal and Police Division SHO 5 inspector Jagjit Singh addressed a press meet in this regard.
Bhullar said on the intervening night of January 28 and 29, Vivek Bhandari, manager of the ‘Bukhara’ restaurant, situated in Kipps market, along with his accomplices broke into the eatery and decamped with Rs 70,000 and a laptop. After registering a case, the police started a probe and identified the suspects.
He said the suspects had formed a gang of thieves and they used to commit thefts in night hours while in the morning, the gang members would join their workplaces. Now, the police would seek remand of the suspects to inquire about the involvement of them in other unsolved theft cases of the city.
