Minor raped in Ludhiana, impregnated by man; booked

Ludhiana, July 17

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by a man in Sidhwan Bet.

The Ludhiana rural police registered a rape case against the accused, Paramjit Singh Peeta, a resident of Kaind, Dehlon.

The complainant told the police that she had been working at the house of Sonu Singh for the past around one year. The accused, who was a friend of Sonu, used to visit the house. She developed a friendship with him. The latter also proposed her for marriage.

“On the pretext of marriage, the accused continued to physically exploit me for more than a year. Whenever I tried to stop him, he used to issue life threats to me,” the victim alleged.

The complainant alleged that recently she suffered acute pain in her stomach, following which her aunt took her to a hospital, where the doctor after check-up confirmed that she was eight-month pregnant.

The girl lodged a complaint after which a case was registered by the police on Saturday.

Investigating Officer ASI Kamaljit Kaur said raids were being conducted to nab the man.
