Ward 48 councillor Parvinder Lapran and Model Town Market Association president advocate Amarjit Singh launched a project for the beautification of Model Town Market, here.
Lapran said the project worth Rs 3.60 crore would make it a ‘model market’.
According to information, the park at the Model Town Gol Market will be upgraded and beautified under the project. Roads in the market will also be recarpeted. The project work will be carried out by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust.
Along with development of the park, saplings of ornamental trees worth Rs 8 lakh would be planted there and saplings worth Rs 2 lakh would be planted in surroundings of the market, the councillor said.
Lapran claimed that a replica of clock tower would be placed and a selfie point would be set up in the park. He said the project work would be completed within two months, adding that it was his dream project.
Advocate Amarjit Singh said nobody had earlier paid attention to the development of the market. He appreciated the efforts to develop it as a model market.
