Jamia Millia Islamia, which was at the centre of the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens protests last year, on Friday emerged the top central university among 40 that were assessed by the Education Ministry and University Grants Commission on a range of parameters.
Jamia scored 90 per cent in the ministry’s internal assessment done under an arrangement whereby all central varsities were asked to sign MOUs with the ministry and UGC for continuous internal evaluation.
Jamia was the first University to sign the MOU and invite performance appraisal.
Rajiv Gandhi University in Arunachal Pradesh is second in the assessment followed by JNU and Aligarh Muslim University.
