Sidhu’s Delhi visit fuelled speculation that he had gone to meet party chief Sonia Gandhi, but returned after failing to get time. He was in the national capital even as Punjab affairs in charge Harish Rawat was in Chandigarh to listen to the grievances of the state leaders. Sidhu did not react to the reports of him seeking time from the party high command.
Party working president Kuljit Nagra and PCC general secretary (organisation) Pargat Singh said they were not aware of the visit. Rawat said: “If Sidhu has some work in Delhi, what’s the fuss about it? I met him two days ago. I talked to him today. He didn’t raise any issue.” — TNS
