SANGRUR: Four robbers fired at a pregnant woman at the Ghaggar bridge on the Punjab-Haryana border late last evening and fled after snatching her purse and gold chain.

Sangrur, January 6

Four robbers fired at a pregnant woman at the Ghaggar bridge on the Punjab-Haryana border late last evening and fled after snatching her purse and gold chain. Doctors had to abort her seven months’ pregnancy last night as the bullet hit the unborn child. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

The victim, Rimpa Rani, resident of Tohana town of Haryana, was coming to her in-laws’ house at Banga village under the Moonak police station along with her husband Sandeep Singh in a car. On Ghaggar bridge, four unidentified robbers on two motorcycles intercepted their car and tried to snatch her purse and gold chain. But when she resisted, robbers fired at her and the bullet hit her in the stomach. The robbers fled with her purse and gold chain. — TNS
