Husband, in-laws booked for dowry

AMRITSAR: The city police have booked Mandeep Singh, son of Darbara Singh and Kuljit Kaur, residents of Gandeke village, located on Mehra Road in Gurdaspur, on charges of demanding dowry.

The city police have booked Mandeep Singh, son of Darbara Singh and Kuljit Kaur, residents of Gandeke village, located on Mehra Road in Gurdaspur, on charges of demanding dowry.

In her complaint Mandeep’s wife stated to the police that she got married with the accused in February 2016. She alleged that the accused was not only demanding a car, but also subjected her to unnatural sex.

The woman police station have registered a case under Sections 498-A, 406, besides Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which states that whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for term, which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to pay fine.

The police authorities said that medical examination of the victim was conducted and on basis of the report a case was registered. They said accused were evading arrest and raids were on to arrest them.
