Amritsar: The Department of History of DAV College celebrated National Youth Day to commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on its campus here today. A lecture was organised on the life history and achievements of Swami Vivekananda on the occasion. Head of the Department of Commerce and Management, Prof Rajnish Popi, was the key note speaker during the event. Principal, Dr Rajesh Kumar, congratulated the department for organising such intellectual lectures. He highlighted the contribution of Swami Vivekananda in the history of DAV institution. He also motivated students to follow his teachings and move on path shown by him. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Rajnish Popi focused on contributions and achievements of Swami Vivekananda in society. With his inspiring words he motivated students to understand the real meaning of life and try to make best out of it. While talking on Swami Vivekananda’s life, college vice-Principal, Dr Vishav Bandhu, and head, Department of History, said he was the first religious leader in India to improve economic condition of masses. Prof Shilpi Seth, Dr Manjit Singh, Prof Amandeep Kaur, Prof Manish Kumar, and Himani were also present on the occasion. — TNS
