Ahluwalia threatening me: MC Commissioner to Chief Secy

Panchkula Municipal Commissioner Dr Shaleen has accused Mayor Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia of threatening him, citing her “influence” with the Chief Justice of India (CJI).

Taking their verbal spat to the next level, the 2012-batch Haryana-cadre IAS officer has shot off a letter to Chief Secretary Depinder Singh Dhesi, seeking appropriate action against the Mayor.

“In the past too, she threatened me with Vigilance inquiries and citing the name of the CJI ,” the MC Commissioner wrote. Meanwhile, despite repeated attempts, the MC Commissioner was not available for his comments. 

Further, accusing the Mayor of vitiating the atmosphere of the MC and expressing his inability to work under such circumstances, Dr Shaleen quoted in verbatim the Mayor’s alleged threat, “Mr Commissioner, you don’t know me. You have a long career ahead. I can spoil you and your career. You wait and watch.” This, according to the MC Commissioner, the Mayor told him over the phone on June 19 when he was on an official tour to Faridabad and was not feeling well.

Mayor hits backs, asks Shaleen to introspect

Hitting back at MC Commissioner Dr Shaleen, Mayor Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia has asked him to introspect and not to follow his predecessor.

“The letter of yours is an eyewash and an attempt to save your skin for an illegal, arbitrary and unwarranted act of not attending the House meeting.” the Mayor wrote. 

“You have talked about me threatening you with inquiries and legal notices. This is completely baseless. It is brought to your notice that it’s not been even a month since you joined the office and there is hardly any administrative decision taken by you. What possible issue can be there for an inquiry against you? Turning down the demand for an apology, she retorted, “Therefore, the question of apology from my side doesn’t arise and instead the whole elected House deserve an apology from you.”
