Chandigarh, December 6

The Municipal Corporation today gave the April deadline to officials to provide uninterrupted water supply to the city.

Members of the water supply and sewerage disposal committee of the MC, under the chairmanship of Satish Kainth, visited the site of Phase V and VI of a water pipeline project being executed at Jandpur and the water works at Sector 39.

MC officials informed the committee members that 90 per cent of the pipeline had been laid. When asked, they informed the MC panel the civil, mechanical and electrical works at Jandpur would be completed by March 2018.

During the inspection at the Sector 39 water works, it was observed that about 50 per cent work of a water treatment plant had been completed and the construction of clear water tank and storage/sedimentation tanks was about 30 per cent complete.

MC officials attributed the delay in the work at Jandpur to the late handing over of the land for the project by the Punjab Government. The committee members asked the officials to get the work completed by April 2018.
