Clear plot of  garbage

National Dental College at Gulabgarh Road in Derabassi is victim to a garbage dump yard in vicinity on its premises. The dump is actually a residential plot. The college authorities have made numerous attempts to get the area cleaned but the MC and the owner of the plot are just not bothered. This is not only spreading filth around but also numerous diseases. Officials from pollution control office also visit college hospital to collect biomedical waste everyday but neglect this residential plot. Residents also do not seem to bother as they also throw garbage in the open.

Class X exam optional

Making Class X exam optional was a progressive reform. By making the Board exams mandatory again, we will be taking a step backwards. Many children, who have been freed from the shackles of parental expectations and rote learning, will again be subjected to pressure and trauma. Once again, they will be forced to participate in the rat race against their wish. If the Class X board exam becomes compulsory once again and the 'pass-fail' system returns to the elementary classes, it will pressurise students. Such scenario will keep students busy in books only. There will be no time for them to participate in sports and other extra-curricular activities. Students should be judged consistently and more importantly, on other parameters as well, which are beyond the exam-taking skills.

H No. plates defaced

It is always difficult to find a house without number-direction plates.  A few days ago, some mischief elements sprayed on number plates here in Sector -27-D, which created difficulty for outsiders to locate the house numbers. Such acts are not funny as they create inconvenience for others. This problem needs immediate attention.
