Chandigarh, December 6
A constable of the Chandigarh Police sustained injuries after he was hit by a motorcycle near the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium roundabout here today.
Three persons were riding the motorcycle which hit Constable Sumant Kumar (29), who is posted with the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) of the UT police.
The cop received head injuries and a fracture in his lower jaw.
Kumar was deployed with two traffic police personnel for catching traffic violators. He signalled the bike to stop but its driver rammed it into him in a bid to escape.
The motorcycle riders also fell on the road and received minor injuries. They were nabbe by the other cops.
Avinash Kumar of Kajheri village, who was driving the bike, has been arrested.
