‘Hospitals fully prepared to deal with swine flu’

NEW DELHI:With growing concerns over spike in H1N1 influenza cases, Health Minister Satyendra Jain has said the government is fully geared to deal with it and arrangements for treatment of swine flu is available in 19 government hospitals and six private hospitals in the Capital.

With growing concerns over spike in H1N1 influenza cases, Health Minister Satyendra Jain has said the government is fully geared to deal with it and arrangements for treatment of swine flu is available in 19 government hospitals and six private hospitals in the Capital.

Following directions from Jain, the health department is regularly monitoring the situation and submitting an update to the minister. The situation is completely under control, said an official.

Tamiflu tablets for patients will be distributed to private hospitals free of cost and treatment will also be made available in other private hospitals having the requisite logistics, including ventilators and isolation of patients.

In this regard, directions will be issued to private hospitals having sufficient infrastructure to treat patients of H1N1 as per the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Delhi has reported 889 positive cases of H1N1 per year while 199 cases have been referred from outside the city taking the cumulative to 1088 reported cases this year.
