Mohali, September 23

Over 1.42 lakh children in the age group of 0 to 5 years will be administered polio drops in Mohali district during a three-day campaign starting from September 25.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat while presiding over a meeting of a taskforce to discuss arrangements for the campaign.

He said it would be ensured that all children were covered during the campaign. The areas where brick-kilns were functioning, slums and industrial areas should be covered so that no child belonging to the economically weaker sections was deprived of polio drops.

He said help from social organisations and panchayats should be taken to make the campaign a success.

Civil Surgeon Ranjit Kaur Guru said 1,142 teams had been formed. Of this, a large number of teams would go from house to house to administer polio drops. Besides, 15 transit booths had been set up and 119 supervisors had been deployed for the work.
