Barely a fortnight after a cockroach was found in soup served on board the Shatabdi Express, a similar complaint was again lodged today by a passenger on board the premium train.

Tarasha Bajaj, who was travelling in Shatabdi, train number 12006, from Chandigarh to New Delhi, lodged a complaint with the Railway staff about a cockroach being found in breakfast served to her.

In her complaint to the Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu, Bajaj said, “I am a passenger of the Shatabdi Express travelling from Chandigarh to New Delhi and I found a cockroach in the breakfast served to me, which is unacceptable. Kindly take action immediately, as it is highly disappointing.”

She had given a written complaint to the Quality Food Inspector. Bajaj had spotted the cockroach after she was half way through the meal. “It is strange that despite paying so much money, such poor service is being provided to the passengers,” she said.

CPRO, Northern Railways, New Delhi, Neeraj Sharma, said on the basis of the complaint, an inquiry will be initiated against the contractor. If found guilty, the contractor will have to pay a hefty fine, the CPRO added.
