Cong dharna in support of Sirsa leader

CHANDIGARH: Several Congress leaders and Brahman Sabha leaders from Sirsa district staged a dharna today to support Hoshiari Lal Sharma, former district Congress president.

Chandigarh, October 3

Several Congress leaders and Brahman Sabha leaders from Sirsa district staged a dharna today to support Hoshiari Lal Sharma, former district Congress president.

Hoshiari Lal Sharma and his son Raj Kumar Sharma were booked during the Sirsa Municipal Council poll for rioting and deterring a public servant from performing his duty. Hoshiari Lal Sharma’s elder brother Sita Ram has resorted to fast unto death which entered its third day today. Earlier Tanwar had also supported Sharma.

Hoshiari Lal and his son Raj Kumar Sharma and 50 others were booked under the IPC on September 25.

Assistant Returning Officer Kanwal Singh Yadav had alleged that the accused had manhandled him when he went to their building on following a complaint that liquor was being distributed to influence voters.

Hoshiari Lal Sharma, however, maintained that Yadav had entered a religious place with shoes. — TNS
