Dehradun, July 31

Five workers of the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) continued to remain atop the water tank at Pavilion Ground for the third day today. They are demanding reinstatement in their respective departments.

Other protesters, who gathered at the site today, alleged the health of the agitators atop the water tank had deteriorated but no government representative had initiated talks with them so far.

On the other hand, the protesters are not ready to come down till their demands are fulfilled. They are being supplied food and water through ropes.

Meanwhile, additional police force have been deployed at the protest site.

Earlier, government officials had reportedly tried to pacify them but they refused to call off the agitation.

Vivek Bhatt, state president of the Uttarakhand RMSA Workers’ Association, said they would not call off the agitation till their issues were resolved.

Another protester, Tajveer Singh Negi, alleged Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani had made false assurances of fulfilling their demands.
