Labourer falls to death from 12th floor

Zirakpur, December 21

A 20-year-old labourer was killed when he fell from the 12th floor of a building at Maya Garden here today. The deceased has been identified as Vicky, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, the incident took place around 2.30 pm.

Sukhchain Singh, an ASI posted at the Zirakpur police station, said Vicky had been engaged for paint work on the 12th floor.

He said after having lunch, Vicky sat on a railing while his colleagues sat on the floor. Vicky lost balance and fell. He died on the spot.

The police said his family members had been informed about the incident and a case would be registered after probing whether the deceased fell accidentally or was pushed by someone.

The body has been kept at the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi.
