Cong flays govt over missing papers

The Congress reacted sharply on Saturday to the “unnecessary controversy” over “missing papers” in Robert Vadra files. It termed it as merely “diversionary tactics” of Mahohar Lal Khattar-led government.

AICC spokesperson and Kaithal MLA Randeep Singh Surjewala said Khattar’s statement had made it apparent that the controversy raked up on Friday was a vilification attempt aimed at political vendetta.

“Vested interests, including BJP leaders, have been flogging this issue for malicious motives. The onus of safe custody is on the BJP government. It is in the public domain that a committee headed by three senior IAS officers was appointed to examine issues raised by Ashok Khemka,” he said.

He said they had submitted a comprehensive report, rejecting the contentions. “No one has stated or alleged that an inquiry was not made by the previous government. If any notings are missing, the regime is free to conduct an inquiry. Non-issues should not be used for political propaganda or a witch-hunt,” he said.

CLP leader Kiran Choudhry said the BJP was using Vadra-DLF land deals to cover up “its misdoings and mistakes” and divert attention from issues exposing its failure. The former minister said, “The deals case is a non-issue which the BJP has been raking up, but failed to prove.” — TNS
