Faridabad industry donates relief material for Kerala flood victims

FARIDABAD: Continuing with its efforts to help flood victims in Kerala, the Faridabad Industries Association (FIA) dispatched a truckload of necessary items here on Sunday.

Continuing with its efforts to help flood victims in Kerala, the Faridabad Industries Association (FIA) dispatched a truckload of necessary items here on Sunday.

With this, the association has sent a total of four truckloads worth Rs 60 lakh so far.

A spokesperson of FIA, a body of local industrialists and entrepreneurs, said the fourth truck consisting of items like rubber gloves, phenyl, T-shirts, stainless steel plates, steel mugs and cutlery was dispatched from here this morning.

Another truck is expected to be sent to the flood-hit area next week, said Col S Kapoor (retd), director, FIA. The FIA members who have contributed towards the cause include the JBM Group of Industries, Apex League, Chanda Enterprises, Securico Electronics, Omega Bright Steel, Super Screws, Lakhani Footwear and Perfect Bread.

Besides, the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC), headquartered here, has contributed one-day salary of its staff for the flood relief work in Kerala. An amount of Rs 60 lakh has also been donated by the teaching and non-teaching staff of the YMCA University of Science and Technology here through a day’s salary as help.

Ambala sends more relief material

Deputy Commissioner Sharandeep Kaur said another truck had been sent, and still huge material was available that would be sent soon. So far, the district administration has sent 78 quintals of rice, 1 lakh chlorine pills, 5,510 biscuit packs, 1,027 rusk packs, 1,000 toothbrushes, 3,200 soaps, 3,500 candles, 500 towels, 450 blankets, 1,000 bed sheets, 560 'dhotis', 600 sarees, 50 nets, 205 buckets, 300 kitchen sets and 5,310 pairs of slippers and ready-to-eat food items. She appealed to the public to help the administration in collecting relief material.
